longhorn hook pod o1

24”  x  48” . |. S O L D | 2 0 1 7

This piece is composed of pod-like structures found growing along a vine in San Diego’s Rancho Penasquitos Reserve. In decorating each pod, I was inspired by the bright celebration of color & festive macramé yarn work I once saw in the alleyways of a little surf town in Sayulita, Mexico. In this piece, some observers see longhorn cattle skulls, sea creatures, entomology or horticulture. These pods were dipped in acrylic, and the “horns” were wrapped partially with colored string..
